SukaSucre Sweet Table by Dato’ Fazly Yaakob

I’ve heard of Dessert Table, often placed at birthday parties, weddings and any kind of celebration but Sweet Table?!? Hemmm…. My curiosity got the best in me. To top it off, it is by Dato’ Fazly Yaakob, the singer, actor and now celebrity chef.

Not sure of what to expect, I head to SukaSucre located in Wisma RYU in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. White base d├ęcor with a touch of earth tones welcomes guest from all walks of life, from toddler to food connoisseur, all came to sample the food and see for themselves the Sweet Table art by his truly. And so did us.

We were prep that it is themed as ‘From Rembau to Paris’, ‘dimana Rembanya dan dimana Paris nya’ was the first thing that came to my mind (and I bet to all those attended as well).

‘Rembau’ basically reflected in the banana fritters, banana snack (cokodok pisang) palm sugar and ice cream stick (ais krim potong); local delicacy (Dato’ Fazly Yaakob’s hometown to be precise) and ‘Paris’ are macaroons, caramel, chocolate, red velvet and etc. And the concept was similar to shell-out, eating with bare hand (make sure it is clean first lah).

Some of the unique menu available are Pasta Daging Lerai Ala Cendawan Kukur, Pasta Daging Salai Lemak Cili Api, Kerabu French Toast, Butterscotch Latte, Corn Teh Tarik dan Green Tea Honey. I have to admit I fell in love with Corn Teh Tarik.

Jom Visit Kuala Lumpur lah!

If you are ever unsure of what to do or where to visit in KLCC, you can either drop by at Aquaria and meet friendly sea creature or take a walk at the Skybridge, connecting Petronas Tower 1 to Tower 2 (the view is breathtaking, you won’t regret it). Whatever it is, you will not regret it.

#TravelTips 1 : Aside from the KLCC Skybridge and Aquaria (both located in the building), you can also visit the Petrosains which is located inside the Suria KLCC Mall itself as well as the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas.

#TravelTips 2 : There are also Petronas Gallery located inside the mall.

All you animal lovers and city dwellers, if you ran out of ideas on where to go (especially those with kids), head over to Aquaria KLCC and meet 5,000 different exhibits of aquatic and land-bound creatures. And my personal favourite will be the Lion Fish, Jelly Fish (love to see how they glide) and Puffer Fish (do you know I have eaten one before when I was in Japan). Best experience would be when I walk into the walkalator tunnel with shark and manta ray swimming across.

Some of the highlights in Aquaria are the Amazing Rocky Shore touch pool, Red-Bellied Piranha exhibition (this is the only place in Malaysia granted permission to see one), Rare Sand-Tiger Sharks, the 10 foot long gigantic Arapaima and the gentle Green Sea Turtle. That one activity might thrill our young friends (adults too perhaps) are the feeding of the sharks at Aquatheatre, Flying Rays at the Living Ocean among others.

#TravelTips 3 : Check out the feeding time upon arriving so that you can plan well.

#TravelTips 4 : Check out activities that they have so you can allocate your time accordingly.

In paying tribute to World Ocean Day, KLCC started an awareness campaign called Blue Ocean, Green Action striving to educate the young about the importance of wildlife, the environment and its relationship with people.

#TravelTips 5 : It is important to educate the young ones on our environment, get the Aquaria team to explain more.

“ As an internationally recognised landmark, the PETRONAS Twin Towers symbolise the courage, ingenuity, initiative, and determination, energy, confidence, optimism, advancement and zest of a nation. ”

Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad
Former Prime Minister of Malaysia (1981-2003)

Little did I know that the Petronas Twin Towers are depicted through its outline, which resembles the letter "M" for Malaysia. But what I did know is that Tower 1 was build by Hazama Corporation Japan where else Tower 2 by Samsung Engineering & Construction Korea, and that the Towers were completed in 1996. This iconic building is ranked the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004 and remains the tallest twin towers in the world by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

Its famous double decker skybridge connects the two towers on the 41st and 42nd floors, remains the highest 2-story bridge in the world. The skybridge is open to all visitors however the tickets are limited to 1000 people per day and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

You can actually view Kuala Lumpur city and skyline from the Skybridge.
